Each year The San Diego Union-Tribune, in collaboration with the San Diego County Office of Education and San Diego County Credit Union presents the Countywide Spelling Bee. This is an opportunity for San Diego County students (grades 7 – 8) to test their spelling skills and take part in an "edge of your seat" competition.
All San Diego County public and private schools with combined seventh- and eighth-grade enrollment of 30 or more are invited to host a Local School Spelling Bee and send their School Champion to The San Diego Union-Tribune Countywide Spelling Bee.
If your school is interested in participating you must register with Scripps National Spelling Bee and pay a $99 registration fee. To register your school visit www.spellingbee.com.
You will also need to register with SDCOE. More details on requirements and deadlines to be posted soon.
And be sure to direct your students to the FREE official study guide from the Scripps National Spelling Bee and Merriam-Webster which is available at www.myspellit.com. The free online access to myspellit.com replaces your school’s need to order spelling bee study booklets for your students.
